On 12 June, the Coalition for the Sahel met for the first time since it was announced at the Pau Summit in January.
The French Foreign Ministe, Jean-Yves Le Drian, described the coalition as “a good example of the new multilateralism that the world needs today.”
The Sahel coalition includes the G5 Sahel countries, French forces and other international troops under a single command. This coalition will also coordinate development, governance and other humanitarian work.
