Am Freitag, den 19.07.2019 hat die spanische Regierung eine weitere Geldzahlung an Marokko beschlossen. Die Zahlung von 30 Millionen Euro soll in Marokko zur Flüchtlingsabwehr eingesetzt werden. Spanien bestärkt damit die altbekannte europäische Abschottungspolitik und Migrationsabwehr, hat sich Marokko doch als strategischer Partner „bewährt“.
Die Kosten solcher Abkommen tragen Migrierende, die von marokkanische Hilfspolizisten und Militärs am Verlassen des Landes gehindert werden oder von der Küstenwache vom Mittelmeer aus zurück nach Marokko deportiert werden.

Spain has been sending money and equipment to irregular migrants’ countries of origin since 2006, the year that thousands of African migrants began landing on the coast of the Canary Islands on makeshift boats. At that time, Mauritania and Senegal were the departure points for the majority of migrants. The strategy was considered a success, as those routes were almost completely closed off.

L’exécutif espagnol avait aussi approuvé, voici deux semaines, un appel d’offres de 26 millions d’euros portant sur l’achat et la délivrance au Maroc d’un lot de 750 véhicules, 15 drones, des dizaines de scanners, des radars et autres équipements techniques, en vue de permettre au Royaume de renforcer le contrôle de ses frontières, rappelle ce média espagnol, notant que ce budget s’inscrit dans le cadre des 140 millions d’euros négociés avec l’UE et correspond à une partie du budget (40 millions d’euros) que l’Espagne est chargée de gérer.
