In einem Statement über das gestern vor Kos in Seenot geratene Flüchtlingsboot spricht die türkische Küstenwache inzwischen von zwölf geborgenen Toten. Zuvor war von acht Toten berichtet worden. Da die Zahl der Menschen, die sich auf dem Boot befunden haben, unbekannt ist, ist nicht auszuschließen, dass noch mehr Boat-people dem Unglück zum Opfer gefallen sind.
A boat carrying migrants to Greece sank off the Turkish coast on Monday, leaving at least 12 migrants dead, Turkey’s coast guard said.
According to Agence-France Press, 12 people have been reported drowned and 31 passengers were rescued after the vessel went down off the Turkish coast of Bodrum, a few kilometers from the Greek island of Kos.
It was not clear how many passengers were on the vessel when it set sail, though the AFP reported that the search was continuing for survivors or possibly more casualties.

Nach Angaben der türkischen Küstenwache sind bei der Überfahrt von 40 Migrant*innen und Geflüchteten von der türkischen Küste nach Griechenland acht Menschen ertrunken. In den Morgenstunden des 17.06.2019 konnte die türkische Küstenwache 31 Migrant*innen und Geflüchtete vor der Insel Kos aus Seenot retten. Nachdem die Küstenwache zunächst über neun vermisste Personen berichtete und auf ihre anhaltende Suchaktion verwies, berichtet sie nun, acht Tote geborgen zu haben.
Eight people have drowned after a boat carrying migrants and refugees sank off southwestern Turkey, according to the Turkish coastguard.
Thirty-one people were rescued from the boat, which sank off coast of the Bodrum district in Mugla province on Monday, the coastguard said.
Operations, carried out with two boats, a diving team and a helicopter from the coastguard, had found the bodies of eight people from the vessel, which was originally carrying 40 people.
In an earlier statement, the coastguard had said efforts were under way to reach nine people missing from the dinghy.It was not immediately known which country the migrants and refugees were from nor what caused the boat to sink.
The eight bodies were found inside the wreck of the boat at a depth of 105 feet, the coast guard said in a statement.
