Nach Dezember 2017 mit zwei Toten ist erneut ein Kohleschaufler in einem Stollen im ostmarokkanischen Jerada umgekommen. Die marokkanische Regierung hatte Ende der 1990er Jahre die Bergwerke geschlossen und damit 9.000 Bergleute in die Arbeitslosigkeit entlassen. In absoluter Armut graben Viele selbständig weiter. Nach den Dezember-Toten gab es monatelange Proteste. Die Polizei verhaftete 100 Demonstranten, einigen wird in diesen Tagen der Prozess gemacht.
Teenager killed in Morocco coal mine collapse
RABAT – A teenager died Wednesday in Morocco when an abandoned coal mine collapsed in the impoverished former mining town of Jerada which saw protests earlier this year following similar accidents.

His death triggered a demonstration by hundreds of residents, they said.
Last December, the accidental deaths of two brothers trapped in a mine shaft, followed by two other deaths under similar circumstances, sparked months of unrest and protests in the town.

The mines, deemed uneconomical, were closed at the end of the 1990s at the cost of some 9,000 jobs in a region whose economy depended heavily on coal.

Jerada : Un jeune meurt dans l’effondrement d’une mine clandestine
L’incident s’est produit à Hassi Belal, situé à quelques kilomètres de la ville. Les habitants redoutent le pire, sachant que le défunt était accompagné par d’autres jeunes de la région.
Depuis le décès, en décembre 2017, des deux frères Jadouane dans les mêmes circonstances, Jerada vit à l’heure de son «hirak». La population continue de revendiquer de véritables solutions notamment au chômage affectant les jeunes.
Le gouvernement El Othmani a promis d’examiner la situation. En attendant une réponse de sa part, 19 membres du mouvement de la contestation sont poursuivis par la justice. Seulement trois d’entre eux sont poursuivis en état de liberté provisoire. La prochaine audience de leur procès aura lieu le 6 décembre au tribunal de première instance d’Oujda
