Auch ohne die Präsenz von NGO-Rettungsbooten vor der libyschen Küste versuchen Migrant*innen, der libyschen Hölle zu entkommen und sich nach Europa zu retten. Das Alarmphone erreichte gestern ein Notruf von einem Schlauchboot mit „50-60 Frauen und 30 Kindern“ an Bord. Maltesische und italienische Seerettungsbehörden, die sofort informiert wurden, lehnten jegliche Zuständigkeit ab, da sich das Boot nach dem Ausfall des Motors noch in der SAR-Zone befunden habe. Mit einem libyschen Patrouillenboot wurden die Geretteten zurück in die libyschen Lager gebracht.

Centocinquanta migranti a bordo di un gommone sono stati soccorsi da una motovedetta della Guardia costiera libica. Tripoli, secondo quanto si apprende da fonti italiane, ha assunto il coordinamento delle operazioni di soccorso perché l’imbarcazione, alla deriva dopo che il motore ha smesso di funzionare, si trovava nell’area Sar di sua competenza.
Le operazioni di salvataggio sono avvenute dopo la denuncia di Alarm Phone, il servizio telefonico per i migranti in difficoltà in mare, che ha avvertito della chiamata di una barca partita da Khoms, nella parte settentrionale della Libia. L’sos, rilanciato dall’associazione Mediterranea, parlava di 50-60 donne a bordo, di cui alcune incinte, e 30 bambini. […]

New crisis looms as 150 people drift at sea in the central Mediterranean
AFM aware of call but says boat is not in Malta’s area of jurisdiction
Maltese and Italian maritime rescue authorities have been alerted to a boat in distress with 150 people on board off Libya.
The boat, which NGO Alarm Phone said is believed to be carrying “50-60 women and 30 children”, is drifting at sea after its engine stopped working. It is believed to have started its journey from Libya.
An Armed Forces of Malta representative said that they had been alerted to the boat and were keeping tabs on it. It is however not in Malta’s area of jurisdiction, the spokesperson said.
No migrant rescue vessels are currently operating in the Mediterranean. The Sea-Watch 3, which was the last remaining ship carrying out rescues, is currently stuck in Catania. Another vessel, the Alan Kurdi – formerly Sea-Eye- is expected to resume operations in a few weeks.
With no NGO vessels currently in operation and no sign of a coast guard vessel coming to the rescue, Alarm Phone said the situation further disproved the “pull factor myth”. […]
