Am Sonntag vor einer Woche haben italienische Behörden Chemseddine Bourassine mit weiteren fünf Fischern vor Lampedusa anscheinend unter Mithilfe von Frontex verhaftet. Ch. Bourassine ist in der tunesischen Hafenstadt Zarzis Präsident der Fischergesellschaft (Pecheur Association – ADPE) und des Netzwerks kleiner Fischereien. Er hatte zusammen mit seinen Kollegen 14 tunesische Schiffbrüchige 20 Seemeilen vor Lampedusa gerettet, aber aus gesetzlichen Gründen nicht nach Lampedusa gebracht. Die italienische Küstenwache übernahm 20 Seemeilen vor Lampedusa die Schiffbrüchigen und verhaftete auf gewaltsame Weise die sechs Fischer.
Sie wurden ins Gefängnis in Agrigento und dann anscheinend in Haft nach Catania gebracht. Ihnen wurde verboten, mit ihren Familienangehörigen über die Haftwoche zu sprechen. Die Fischer von Zarzis haben heute morgen einen Protest gegen die Verhaftung ihrer Kollegen in Italien begonnen. WatchTheMed verurteilt die niederträchtige Behandlung dieser Helden, die im Mittelmeer der italienischen und europäischen Abschottung aktiv geworden sind, und fordert ihre sofortige Freilassung.
The Italian government is taking its illegitimate criminalization of rescuers at sea to a totally new level. Last Saturday, Mr. Chemseddine Bourassine was arrested by Italian authorities along with five other fishermen in Lampedusa. Mr. Bourassine is a fisherman from Zarzis Tunisia, the closest functional port to war-torn Libya. He is the president of the Zarzis le Pecheur Association (ADPE) and of the Network of Small Scale Fisheries. The arrest came after Mr. Bourassine and his colleagues spotted a small boat carrying 14 Tunisian nationals, whose engine had broken 20 miles from Lampedusa. These fishermen are no strangers to this kind of situation, due to the vital rescue work they have been involved in over the past ten years. Knowing that they were not allowed to take the 14 people on board, they decided to pull the boat up to 20 miles from Lampedusa, in order to facilitate the rescue operations of the Italian authorities. Once at 20 miles from the coast, the coast guards arrived, took the 14 people on board, and then proceeded to violently remove the 6 fishermen from their vessel in order to arrest them. They were taken to Lampedusa, where they remained for 12 hours (the 14 men are still there, in the hotspot), to then be taken to Agrigento prison. They might have now been moved to Catania, we don’t have precise information yet. The six fishermen have not been allowed to speak to their families over the past five days and are under a lot of pressure. The fishermen of Zarzis staged a protest this morning in support of their 6 colleagues and calling for their immediate release.
We denounce this illegitimate action by Italian authorities and ill-treatment of these heroes who are filling the gap left by Italy and the EU in the Midterranean and demand their immediate release! We will keep you informed about the situation of the fishermen rescuers.

Le président de l’association des pêcheurs de Zarzis Chamseddine Bourassine et cinq membres de son équipage ont été arrêtés.
« La police financière et douanière italienne a annoncé l’arrestation le 29 août des six membres d’équipage d’un bateau de pêche „surpris en train de tirer une barque avec 14 migrants à bord en direction de Lampedusa“ », rapporte l’AFP.
Une campagne a été lancée sur les réseaux sociaux pour réclamer la libération des pêcheurs tunisiens arrêtés. „Nous invitons les autorités italiennes à libérer les six pêcheurs tunisiens arrêtés“, a souligné Romdhane Ben Amor du Forum tunisien pour les droits économiques et sociaux (FTDES) dans une déclaration accordée à l’AFP. Tunisie: manifestation contre la détention de pêcheurs en Italie
Des Tunisiens ont protesté lundi dans une ville du sud du pays, d’où sont originaires six pêcheurs arrêtés par les autorités italiennes après avoir aidé une embarcation de migrants dans les eaux internationales. La police financière et douanière italienne a annoncé l’arrestation le 29 août des six membres d’équipage d’un bateau de pêche « surpris en train de tirer une barque avec 14 migrants à bord en direction de Lampedusa ».
Chamseddine Bourassine, président de l’association des pêcheurs de Zarzis, grande ville du sud de la Tunisie, a été arrêté avec cinq membres de son équipage, ont indiqué des membres de son association, des proches et une ONG. Selon eux, ce militant local connu a secouru un groupe de migrants clandestins tunisiens, qui naviguait dans une embarcation de fortune à 40 milles des côtes italiennes. « Il a tiré le bateau des migrants alors que le temps devenait dangereux », a indiqué à l’AFP Anis Soui, un autre pêcheur de Zarzis.
